I can only get my web access to work if I configure it manually to forward to the internal port 9000.  If I use any other port or auto configuration web access does not respond to that specific port, remotely nor locally.  It seems to me as if web access is not properly initializing on any port other than 9000.  Solutions anyone?

This is down to the UPnP feature in your router not working correctly.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Port 9000 is the only port number that will work for your Buffalo product.  I always suggest to disable the UPNP on the service set-up page on your LS interface.

I'm trying to set up the WebAccess on my LS-XHL (firmware 1.26) manually and can not do it.  I have it working with UPnP turned on but I would like to turn UPnP off as it causes internet connection loss on my router about once a day that I I need to cycle power on my Router to get access again... no fun.

From the Admin web pages I see an external port set that the UPnP negotiated.  I have tried to use this port number (34824) and set it manually in my router, but find it did not work.  When I turned UPnP back on again (in both the Linkstation and the router), it worked again but the external port number changed (to 35061 as shown on the WebAccess page of the Linkstation admin html pages).

I have been adding port forwarding on my router, now passing port 34824 and 35061 to 34824 and 35061 respectively.  In the Linkstation I leave the external port to whatever was set when using UPnP, which is currently 35061.  I have left the internal port at 9000.

Any ideas why this manual configuration does not work?

I'm also curious how this external port for WebAccess is determined?  How does my browser or BuffaloNAS.com know to use this port?

Hi,

I have the WebAccess working on my LS-XH2.0TL.

My configuration:

WebAccess Service: Enabled

HTTPS/SSL Encryption: Disabled

Use BuffaloNAS.com: Disabled

BuffaloNAS.com Name: -

BuffaloNAS.com Key: -

DNS Hostname: xxx.dlinkddns.com

Auto-Configure Firewall (UPnP): Disabled

External Port: 912x

The x is just a placeholder so that you don't know all the  details to connect my LinkStation.

In the router (DLink DIR-655) I tried to setup everything to enable the portforwarding, the router gives me the following options which I set to

Virtual Server: Port Public : 912x      IP Adress 192.168.2.199   Port Private: 9000

Port forwarding:  Ports to open: TCP: 912x   IP address 192.168.2.199   Port UDP: 9000

Application rules: Name: Linkstation   Port Trigger: 9000 TCP   Firewall 912x TCP

Actually I don't know which of the settings does the trick, bt it works fine, even with the iPhone!

Hope this helps

Got this error message when I tried to set UPnP to "Disable" on the WebAccess setup on the Linkstation admin web pages.

" Error accessing BuffaloNas.com, check internet settings. "

I was able to disable WebAccess, but when I tried to reenable it, I got the same error message.  The result is that the change is not allowed and the setting go back to what they were....  Right now that is WebAccess turned off.

Previously I had turned off UPnP in my router.

I also changed the NAS IP address to a static address after reading that port forwarding requires a static IP address.

So now I have my routers port forwading set to 9000 from the original port of 35061 which was previously working... but I can not get the WebAccess turned on withoug UPnP.

Since changing the IP address might have messed things up, I will try to reenable UPnP and when it is working, then I'll attempt to turn it off again.

Would love to here from some gurus on this.  I'd especially like to know where the UPnP external port number is coming from?  I'm thinking it is from BuffaloNAS.com.  If so can I set the port number manually?
