Linkstation Pro problems

I'm having problems getting my new Vista Home Premium (x64) PC to interact properly with my Linkstation Pro (LS-500GL). The LS is hard wired to a wireless router, with my new PC, another desktop and a laptop all connecting wirelessly. The other machines are all running XP Home and can see, manage and use the Linkstation without issue.

 

The Linkstation has had the firmware update to 1.15 and I am running NAS Navigator 2.15 on all boxes. I have manually amended the security setting through regedit to 1 (I tried 2 with no success), and finally, I have tried to amend the Client for Microft Networks properties with Windows Locator (recommended on another thread), but it doesn't stick.

 

The Vista machine can see the Linkstation through Navigator, and Explorer, but when I try to navigate my way through the directory structure, either the Linkstation "disappears" or I get a message saying that I don't have access rights to that directory - I have no access constraints set up on the share.

 

Has anyone got any ideas about what else I could try? I'm really at my wits end from searching through suggestions!!!

Make sure you have SP1 for Vista.

 

Try turning off any firewalls (windows, anti-virus, ect.), though it is most likely an issue with your network settings not applying your changes. You need to use that Windows Locator setting (also make sure that there is "Check" next to Client for Microsoft Networks, as well as File and Printer sharing.

Hmm, I've tried deactivating the firewall and virus scanning, with no effect, and I can confirm that I have SP1 installed.

 

I still can't get the "windows locator" option to stick though. Any thoughts as to what might be causing this? It's a new build machine, so I haven't done anything odd to it!
