Dropping off Network and Eternal Resyncing

We have a TeraStation HS-DH2.0TGL/R5 that drops off the network during heavy file transfer and must be hard restarted (power off and then on) for it to reappear.  It has been running a resynch for over 24 hours.  It was previously flashed to the latest firmware in an attempt to reconcile these issues.  It does still respond to a ping and it has a hard set IP address.  Any ideas as to fixing it?

How long have you had the device and how long has it been working properly for vs exibiting the symptoms that you described. This could indicate a controler defect is why I ask.

We've had it for a little over a year.  It was having a couple of issues staying on the network in the past month, so I updated the firmware, hoping it would resolve the situation - now it's worse.  We also use it as a data repository for backups, running a robocopy script on a server to dumpa files to it.  It has always been a bit problematical about that and usually has to be restarted, expecially after a full backup of one of the servers (lots of big files).

 

Right now, it says it's rebuilding the array (has been for 4 days) and is inaccessible.  I don't want to lose the data we have on it since it took so long to get it on there, but would sure like the beastie to be a bit more reliable.
