Connectivity to Terastation (HD-H1.6TGL/R5)

I am unable to connect to unit shares, or web interface. Up to a week or so ago everything worked fine.

I have attempted to update the firmware without success. The TSClient finds the device, the device name, IP address is displayed, but firmware field only displays dashes. During the firmware update process, all seems good until the end of the process when a message indicating "updating firmware failed." I have tried this through the network, and directly connected with a crossover cable. End result is the same using either method. I have reset the device using "init" without success, instructions suggest this should reset device to "factory" settings. However, the unit still maintains current settings including IP, Host name etc. Is there another method of updating the firmware to reset the device back to default settings/configuration? Thanks.

I found in the knowledge base, a note about using the following command.

"C:BuffaloFirmwareTeraStation112-104HD-HTGL FWUpdate.exe" /force

This did in fact work to update the firmware and allow me to gain access to the device.

Everything is in Japanese, so I will either learn the language quickly or find the setting to

set it back to English.

I've had to change my terastation back from Japanese today too!

 

It's the 2nd button down on the menu, scroll to the bottom of the page and you can change it to English. The 2nd drop down I could only access after applying, then going to a different page, then back to the 2nd menu option again. Then changed it to the US/Canada one (one of the top options)now all is good.
