Hi

I have tried unsuccessfully to activate the Web Access through the BuffaloNAS.com website.

I've configured the Linkstation and my router per the instructions--but I keep getting errors about the device name and password--"must be 20 characters or less, hypens, dashes...etc".

My device name and passwords meet the criteria specified.

I have tried both the UPnP and manually port forwarding ( port 9000) on the rounter--each trail produces the same results.

Any advice?--Is it really this difficult?

Thanks

PennieD,

Is this in the Web Access setup that you're getting an error from the NAS?  You are picking a unique BuffaloNAS.com name correct?  Post what information is being entered and we'll help you as best we can.

I tried to upgrade the firmware to 2.11 I get "ACP_STATE_FAILURE"  updating is aborted.

PennieD, i've seen this issue after updating the firmware. Try resetting the device to factory defaults from Maintenance->Initialization, Restore.
