WHR-HP-G54 will not work

   I want the Router not as a Router but an access point for my laptop it was working perfectly awhile ago but then it lost signal and now refuses to work i thought it didnt work cause the router is downstairs and the laptop is upstairs so i went downstairs and now its not even automatically connecting how can i get it to work oh and it wont work as a router either i tried it but it always fails the connection even though the internet opens up fine and everthing that has to be done is done i havent put the IP address thingy cause i dont know how so what can i do

Set the unit in bridge mode then set up  WDS with your current router and if your current router does not support WDS then hard wire the LAN ports together to keep the bridge on the network.
