LS_WTGL HAve I completely broken it?

Hi All,

 

Last resort cry for help!  I recently purchased a used Linkstation, LS WTGL, fitted with 2 X 1TB sata drives to use as a network backup device for storing music/ picyures etc. When I first tried to install the software from the CD it was not compatible with my version of windows Win 7 and 8 64 bit, so I downloaded a newer version for the website which seemed to install OK. I connected the device, and could see it on the network, but could not acces the only share (info) or create any other share, without the permissions of User Unix_root.I could map a drive letter, but no create any folders, again it required ubser Unix_ root. On advice then (possibly bad) I removed the drives, connected them direclty to my PC one at a time, and deletted all partitions on them. I put the LS back together and connected it to the network, but now cannot see it at all, I have tried to upgrade the firmware, but cannot as the device is not visible, the Navi software also cannot pick it up. Is there anything I can do, posssibly by using the mac address? or do I cut my losses and just try to install the bare drives in my server, or in a USB casing?

Follow FAQ 3 of 5 to TFTP the unit which will put it into EM mode and then reinstall the firmware.
