I just brought this new HD-PNTU3 1TB drive this afternoon.

S/N = 89712134333271

I followed the autoexe procedures to setup the drive.  I am using Lenovo E330 with all system software up-to-dated.

However, the drive has been looping endlessly in the following states:

1.  It tells me "the password has been authenticated.  Please wait...."  --- it means the password is correct.

2.  The drive light turns to solid green for a second, then blinking green for a second, then turns back to solid red.

3.  Then the Autoplay CD Drive(D:) HD-PNTU3  dialogue box pops up; The Password Authentication dialogue box pops up again asking for the password;

4.  And the following notification also pops up: This device can perform faster...if you connect it to a Super-Speed USB 3.0 Port."

5.  I enter the password again...so it loops back to 1 again....

Well....i know my USB 3.0 port works fine with other USB 3.0 devices.

Computer management /Disk management can see the PNTU3 is being assigned as D drive with CDFS system.  But not the 1T that I need to use.

Device manager shows all drivers work fine...and able to see "USB Mass Storage Device (Turbo PX EC)

When I tried to plug the Buffalo into a USB 2 port, nothing happen at all....no blinking light, no nothing!

So, I am not able to use the drive....

Am I getting a defective product?  Or something I have missed during the setup?

Should I use Secure Lock Manager to Reset to Factory Default?

Please help!

Have you tried using a different computer? Just to rule out if it's your computer or the Ministation.

Also in the disk management, is there free space on the disk to make a new partition, or is the existing one not formated? If you have not formated the drive you can use the Disk formater from the Optional software.

Also in device manager do you have in the drives section: BUFFALO HD-PNTU3 USB Device

Thank you for the suggestion!  I meant to test it with another machine, but it was too late for me to do so last night.  This afternoon, I was able to test it with another Windows 7 Desktop, it worked.  I tested it with a XP machine with only USB 2, it worked.  So it seems that there is compatibility problem with the Lenovo E330.

When hooked up to the Lenovo E330:

In Disk Mgt, I do not see the free space to make a new partition at all.

In Device Mgr, i see "USB Mass Storage Device (Turbo PX EC).

When hooked up to the other two machines that worked, i was able to see the drive in Disk Mgt and Device Mgr.  I even formatted it by using the Windows 7 Desktop machine.

From the LED being green only while connected to E330, it seems that the Buffalo can only see the port as USB 2 instead of USB3.

Any suggestion what I should do?

Thanks,

Having looked at the specs for the E330, it appears that as it has been designed to be as lightweight and portable as possible and that some features have been cut back, such as full power requirments for the USB ports. This means that the E330 can't power the Ministation properly in order for it's full function. It maybe possible to get around this by using an external USB3 powered hub.
