Replication over Lan2

I have 2 TS5400D units.  I want to replicate the shares on unit1 over to unit2.  If I connect the lan2 ports on each unit together, will the replication be done over the lan2 connection?  Both units exist in the same subnet and are connected to the subnet via lan1.  I want to make sure that the faster (1000 gb) lan2 to lan2 connection is used so there is no hit on bandwidth.

thanks

Most likely you will have a network problems and will not able to connect at all.
