RAID is not a replacement for a backup! Here's why.

Hello,

We have a TS-RH4.0TGL/R5 with a failed drive (#3). The drive is reported as having "bad sectors" and "faulty."

We physically removed drive 3 and replaced with a like drive (capacity and speed), however now receive error E14, can't mount RAID array.

If we return the bad drive to the unit, we can at least reach Degrade Mode. But we want to replace that drive...

Is there a process to remove the old drive in the GUI and properly replace, so the RAID understands we're trying to replace? Buffalo tech support has been very sketchy on this, no clear answers and a lot of "it should just work." Tried re-flashing the firmware (at support's suggestion) to format the new drive, no luck.

Any thoughts?
