Disks always spinning

Hi,

I've just purchased a Buffalo storage device (LinkStatsion Live 1TB, OS 1.62). Everything so far has been great, however I notice that the disk is always spun up, even when all hardware on the network that accesses it are offline.

Do the current range of LinkStations ever spool down their disks or are they always powered up and spinning? I'm aware that I have the cheapest model but I assume most of the internals are common accross models.

I'll double check that nothing could be accessing it. I do have the bittorrent feature active, however, there are no live torrents at present. It had been left for a few hours with no network activity that I know of.

Thanks
