Which Cable Do You Use, Cat5e or Cat 6?

The set up I have at home with my LS-WVL/E device is like this:

Router: NetGear N600 (model: WNDR3400)

NAS: LS-WVL/E

Other Devices: Samsung TV, Samsaung BD player, Xbox 360.

My NAS and other devices are all connected by ethernet since my router is in the same location. I use cables that I have collected from job sites throughout the years. Even though these cables work, I want to make sure I get the best performance possible.

So do you guys think I should pony up and purchase some cat6 cables or what I have should suffice?

I ask this because when I move files from one share to another (NAS files) transfer rates are very slow. I would say the most I get is 5MB and the lowest I seen is 2MB. So was just curious if upgrading the cable might help a little or it's just something I have to accept.

Thanks!
