Backup Failure??

Hi

 

I'm trying to set up by Terastation TS-XLS84 to backup to a Freecom Mobile XXX portable hard drive but getting an I54 error message and, I don't know if this is relevant, but on the display on the Terastation is flashed HD Used before then stating the Backup Failed I54 message. 

 

I've been through the problems listed in the manual, ie. the Terrastation isn't in sleep mode, it recognises the Freecom because when I'm in the NASNavigator2 software it shows both the Terastation and the Freecom listed in the bottom section of the main page, and this software shows 298gb available on the Freecom and the folder I tried to backup is only kbs in size.  The Freecom folder on the NAS is enabled for backup.

 

The Freecom is formatted for NTFS, could this be the problem?

You need to reformat the USB HDD from NTFS to XFS

Thanks Davo.  Unfortunately the HDD can't be reformatted to XFS, it only supports FAT32 or NTFS.  Looks like I need a new backup device.

Can anyone recommend something that works well with the Terastation?

Of course it can be formatted to XFS! Any HDD can, log into the web admin page of the terastation, system - storage, select the USB HDD and click format disk.
