Hi! ok, so here's what happened..

I've been using the external hardrive and its been fine. I usually use it on my Toshiba laptop. Recently, my friend tried to transfer a large media file onto it from her Mac. Her mac then somehow shut down and she had to replug the hard drive in. But this time, she couldnt locate the external hardrive from her Mac. I tried openign it at home but I cant find it under "My Computer" where it usually is. How ever, it does show up under "devices and printers".  The light on the HDD is still on and there are noises from it like usual.

When I go to disk management, it is on Disk 1 but it is not initialized. I tried to intialise it but all that comes up is "Incorrect function". I checked the details of the hard drive and it says that the capacity is 0 bytes where as its meant to be a 1 Terabyte drive.  There is no partition detectable and I have even updated the driver and nothing has worked. I feel like I have tried almost everything. Tried using 3 different "Partition recovery" programs but none has worked. There is nothing wrong with the USB port as other USB has been working. The hard drive doesnt show up on my other computuer and doesnt even shjow up on another friend's Mac.

Can anyone help me fix this? I'm not too computer savy, so if formatting it going to be helpful? I'd rather not lose the files on it :(

Thanks!!
