Buffalo LS-LGL keeps needing reboot

Hi,  I hope someone can help. We have had a Buffalo Linkstation LS-LGL for many years now but for some time now it has needed restarting at intervals because the "connection is lost". The unit is still powered on but all of a sudden it comes up as disconnected on the computer. We mainly had a few Win XP computers, a Vista and a Mac, But recently the Win computers were replaced by 2 Win 7 and a Win 8. The trouble had already started but since then it is definitely worse. I have had to reboot at least 6 times since this afternoon. It seems to happen when doing a very large deletion or copy function or a couple of things at once, but sometimes when almost nothing at all is happening. The original Cd software that came with it says Link Navigator Ver 1.0.3. I have looked to see if there is any software or firmware update but nothing seems to come up on the site for that model. It comes up in my computer as LS-LGLF4B  (L:).  I did have the navigator software installed when we first got it but the later machines just automatically pick it up on the network. Any clues as to why this may be happening? Thanks

 

PS I just tried installing the software anyhow but got a message to say it was incompatible with the version of Windows. I also found there is a firmware update to a version 2.01,(on another site -  http://www.helpdrivers.com/backups/Buffalo/LS-LGL_LinkStation_Lite/" target="_blank">http://www.helpdrivers.com/backups/Buffalo/LS-LGL_LinkStation_Lite/)  but again, it only says it is for window platforms up to Vista...though the release of the update may have preceded the release of Win 7 so possibly the firmware would still be OK ....
