Hi, I have a 320G Linkstation EZ and wish to disable the trashbox.
I've read in another thread that this is done via the web interface, but I can't find anything in the web interface that allows this to be done, and I can't find any instructions regarding the use of the web interface at all.
I have upgraded the firmware to v2.01.
Can someone please help, as when having to delete many items twice from this device is an extremely slow and painfull process?
Thanks

Dustrega

Roger1,

Disabling the Trashbox shouldn't be too much of a problem.  Try this:

1. Open the Web Interface for your NAS by typing in the NAS IP Address in the address bar.

2. Click on Shared Folders in the left hand side of your interface.

3. Click on the icon that is on the same line as the Share folder in the right hand side of your browser (the icon should be a goldenrod color with a depiction of a hammer and screwdriver on it).

4. About halfway down the page on the right hand side of your screen I believe the "Recycle Bin/Trashbox" feature with the options to Enable/Disable should be there.

Hope this helps.  If not let us know.

Hi and thanks for replying so quickly.
Unfortunately, I don't have any of the items in my web interface that you have described.
All I get is firstly the logon page, then a page of options for Web Access Services, as further described below.
At the top left of the page is the Link Station banner with a blank gray column below it.
On the top right is a Buffalo banner and below it is a largish Web Access heading, and right below that is the Web Access Services subheading with options for web access below it. Nothing else is on that page.
This is the address it shows when I'm viewing the page I described.   http://192.168.1.4/cgi-bin/top.cgi" target="_blank">http://192.168.1.4/cgi-bin/top.cgi
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
.
UPDATE:  Thanks to another thread, I found a way to hack this product to remove the trashbox, as apparently it can't be done through any user accessable options, contrary to what was indicated to me twice by going through official support channels.

The disable for the trashbox on the unit is after you click on the drive share in some models.
