Link Station HS-DH500GL

I have a Link Station HS-DH500GL and it won't allow access for more than a minute or so?

It will take a while to "become active" then it shortly starts beeping. The Navigator connects

everyonece in a while and says workgroup "UNKNOWN" and firmware is  "--- --- ---"

A tech had me attempt to update the firmware but it's not getting a confirmation back.

I am able to get small files off it between crashes, but that is a pain and frustrating.

 

Does anyone have an idea?

 

Is it possible to remove the drive and access it directly?

   I would suggest trying these steps:

 

1. Download the firmware update found http://www.buffalotech.com/support/getfile/?HS-DHGL_211_101b.zip" target="_blank">here

 

2. Extract the files on to your desktop, disable your firewalls and/or anti-virus, then run the file lsupdater.exe (if you don't see the .exe extension that's okay it should be labelled as an Application at the least

 

3. Once the firmware update is complete use the NAS Navi to ensure it has installed correctly.

 

   Let us know how it goes.

   I did all that... the fix doesn't seem to take...I did find my receipt... it's under warranty for another 21 days! I'm going to try loading the firmware from a Windows 2000 machine with no firewall and no antivirus.. When I do it from my XP machines the error seems to be that it can't confirm back the load? I would think the firmware upgrade would stick in the Buffalo anyway, but maybe not... So now I need to find an old copy of 2000 and a hard drive
