I can no longer get the the NAS into EM it just keep doing it over and over until I turn it off.

Fisrtly, is there a backup of the data? If so then remove both the HDDs and reboot the unit, the error LED should start to flash 7 times if the main board is OK.

If it does then connect both HDDs to a PC and run seatools on it, run a long generic test on both disks and let me know if they pass.

Hi Davo.

Yeah there's a back up of the data on another USB drive, I even connected the HDD1 to my linux box last night and backed up partion sdf6 (where the data is) just to be sure that I have another copy.

I've removed the hard drives and booted the unit, the light flashed red 7 times, waited a few secs, flashed again 7 times etc. So I'm guessing the main board is ok.

Will a SATA dock be ok connecting the HDD to my PC ? I don't have any spare connections or power in my PC.

Thanks,

Paul

davo

yes, a USB - SATA caddy should do nicely to test the HDDs

HDD1 ran for about an hour then came back with "long generic - failed" in the drive status column.

Testing HDD2 now.

psp83

HDD2 still scanning, does it normally take this long?

Support has said the unit is faulty so I've bought a new NAS unit.
