Problem with copy to Linkstation Mini performance (big-files)

Hi.

My set-up...

Computer: Windows 7 SP1
NAS: LinkStation Mini LS-WSX1 (with latest firmware)
Network set-up: Laptop with WLAN -> connected to ZyXel P-661 NFU ADSL/WLAN -> CAT6 LAN connected to Netgear Gigabit Switch -> CAT6 LAN connected to LinkStation

Problem description:

When I start copying a big file (say 5-6 Gigs) to the NAS from my Windows laptop, the first ~1 Gig is copied with good speed (say 40-60 Meg/s), but after that the copying speed drops to 3-6 Meg/s and does not increase anymore to the "good" level.

Why?

- Is there some "buffer" limitations/settings on LinkStation Mini?
- Is there some Windows Network settings/registry settings?
- Is there some ADSL modem settings?

That can/could cause this kind of behaviour?

test it on a direct LAN connection (Linkstation directly connected to ethernet port in PC) with a staitc IP set on both devices and see what speed you get.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Hi.

Sorry for a loooong delay :(

I have updated LS firmware to 1.65 and the issue still remains :(

Also connected my laptop via cable directly to the router -> router LS NAS and result is still the same (with static IP). So for some reason the 1st Gb is copied with very good spped, but then the speed performance drops significantly... Also with Windows 8 laptop.

What could be the issue? I have tried to study the documentation too with no explanation. Used Google, no success... :(

Any help appreciated.

As far as I know that router does not support 1Gbit ports, therefore your transfer speed will be limited.

Hi,

But still, that doesn't explain why the the 1st ~1 Gb is transferred with 40-60 Mb/s and then after that the transfer speed drops to say to 5500 kb/s... Making xx Gb transfers really slow to perform :(

Tried playing also with Jumbo Frame setting (returned that to 1512 default value) after trying bigger ones that had no impact.

Still glueless...
