unpartitioned drive NECESSARY for new LS-WVL/E setup?

I just picked up a Buffalo LS-WVL/E. A friend gave me two 350GB hard drives that he no longer needs. I would like to use them with the LS-WVL/E. In the youtube setup video by Buffalo, the technician says that the drives have to have no partitions or the unit will not work with them. Is that true? If so, is there any way to force the unit to use them? I am okay with it blowing away everything on the drives... just don't want to fiddle with blowing away the partitions myself (e.g., hook it up to an existing PC, blow away partitions, unhook it from existing PC, put in Buffalo).

Thank you!

Michael

no its not, i've booted my units with NTFS partitioned HDDs and it has worked successfully, although ideally they should be unpartitioned.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Davo - so when the unit transfers its OS to the drive, does it just nuke existing partitions and set up its own?

Thanks!

Thanks, Davo - that worked great! Now I'm off to figure out how to set two drives up in a RAID 1 configuration. User's Manual, don't fail me now!
