Hello

I have a LS-XLC1B with the most current Firmware version (1.64) I have set it up to be a backup drive via Apple's Time Machine - four 5 OSX systems.

I get get it to work for a few hours - but for some reason the NAS keeps forgetting the passwords when they are passed by OSX...  This occurs both with TimeMachine AND with the FINDER

At the same time, I log in via any web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) or via NasNavigator2

Any clues?

Oh, I am running MacMini, MacAir, MacBookPro, iMac - all about one year old but all with OS 10.8.2 AND and old iMac G5 with 10.4 or 10.5.

Most of the systems are tied to hardwired LAN (cat-5e) while two laptops are tied via WiFi.

I think I might have found a work around but it does not make sense.

If I turn off AFP and FTP - then turn on AFP again the system seems to work.

Any clue as to why?

Nope... back to failing

OK - I have found that if I restart the NAS - it will accept passwords ...  but for some reason it seems to lose it after a while

I am having the same exact issue.  A reboot fixes the issue for a short amount of time.  Did you ever find a real fix?

Is it only Time Machine that loses the password? Like, you can still log in via the web UI with that password, correct? Or are you having to reinitialize to reset back to default password?

Is the power set to on, off, or auto?

**A single copy of data, even on a RAID array, is NOT a backup! Hard drive failure is not a question of IF, but WHEN! Don't take my word for it, take Google's!**
