Permissions issue - causing inability to move/delete folders by anyone/Admin

I have a ticket open with Support, however, it's been on-going with little success for 3 months.  I'm turning here in case anyone can help.

 

We have lots of shared folders.  Often, there are folders nested in those folders, as I'm sure everyone has.

 

The isuse I'm having is with permissions on any/all the folders.  The user/group settings don't really appear to work on any folders (root folders or nested folders).

 

Some folders (when looking via Linux / Mac) have mode 555 some have 444, etc (which appear to be kind of random).  In essence, no one can move them to another folder - or really do anything with them.  The problem persists even if I remove Access Restrictions.

 

For example, we have a root folder called Sales.  Two users (btw, each user has their own user account), Bob and Randy, they are both also in the Sales group.  Bob and Randy have their own folders and the Sales Group has access to all folders in Sales.

 

Sales Folder -

-- Randy's Folder

-- Bob's Folder

 

Neither Randy or Bob can access each others folders, despite a shared group (and associated group permissions).

I, as the Admin, can't move a folder from Randy's to Bob's.

 

I've tried moving files, folders via Mac, Linux and Windows, via SMB.

 

I've downloaded the NAS Manager for Mac, but as far as I can tell, that just starts Finder and mounts a folder - or maybe I'm missing some key functionality.

 

Please tell me there's some magic "Admin" function where I can chmod files such that I can move them.

 

Disabling / enabling Access Restrictions doesn't change a thing.  (I was hoping that disabling them would open permissions on the files, but it didn't do anything.)
