Why is my LS-X3.0L beeping?

I've heard different beeps from the NAS.  One was a single loud beep when I started a file copy to it.  Another seems to happen when I handle it (such as turning it over in my hands while it's running).  But the most common is a little chirp every 5 minutes or so, day and night ever since I bought it, whether anything is happening or not.

I've searched the manual and the website for beep codes, and two prior posts asking the question got a link to a LED code chart, but nothing about beeps.  The Terastation manual (not my product) lists a System/Maintenance option for beep alerts (on and off), but no code list, and my product does not have that option (nor does it have any LEDs or displays - just a solid blue power light).

If I can't tell what the beeps mean, I'd prefer to turn them off, they are very annoying, particularly the little chirp.  I have never had a problem with the product or any sign of an error condition.

LinkStation LS-X3.0L firmware 1.64 NAS Navigator 2.56.

Thanks for any advice.
