Hello,

After spending a few hours on Google I have decided to bite the bullet and ask for some help ;-)

I have inherited a LS-WXL without any hard drives.

I have installed the NASNavigator2 and confirmed that the unit in Emergency Mode.

I have downloaded the latest firmware for this model (v1.64) and am trying to flash the firmware onto it as per the FAQ guidelines, so I have posted a few screenshots so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction...

The unit powers on obtains an IP address from the DHCP server, to make it easier I have installed a fresh Samsung drive that is unformatted, but the hard drive will not power up (The drive has clicked in place correctly in bay 1) the main unit is showing a blue solid power LED, and within the hard drive bays each hard drive bay (under the drive panel) has a red solid led on the pcb board where the drive connect to the sata port (Thay may be normal but i'm not sure) I have also plugged the same drive into a caddy and it powered up fine just to make sure)

Here is a sreenshot from NASNavigator2:

To make an educated guess because the hard drives are not powering on im assuming it has nothing to format, but i'm not sure whether the hard drive not powering up is firmware related or not, as there are no error lights lit up on the front (Only a static blue power led)

Anyone have any input on this? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Id test the HDD in a PC, sounds like the HDD might be the issue, connect it to a PC and run a SMART test on it.

Run a long generic test on the HDD and see if it passes. (it might take a few hours)

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Thanks Davo.

I have also since tested with Samsung/Seagate & Western Digital Drives with the same results, so we can rule out a hard drive fault.

This is the unit with the hard drives removed - not sure if these red lights are normal (you can see them with/out a hard drive inserted):

OK after much frustration, i decided to check the last part (the mains adaptor)

While this plug was supplied with the unit it it is only 9v (300ma) out of pure luck I had a spare mains adaptor for a Seagate hard drive (Same power tip) this was rated at 12v and 1500ma) now the hard drives power up, and I have managed to reflash the fimware and get the unit operation again!

I now want to purchase the correct mains adaptor for it, underneath the Linkstation Duo unit is says 12v @ 4a.

If anyone owns one of these units (LS-WXL) could you please let me know what volts and amps are on the mains adaptor please?

Thanks for the help guys :D
