LS-WV2.0TL/R1 is to slow

Hello,

 

i bought a new Link Station Pro Duo (LS-WV2.0TL/R1).

It works with a new Firmware 1.64 and Navigator 2.56 Software.

But the transfer speed is not accepable.

When i use my WLAN Router (DSL EasyBox 802) with my Laptop (WiFi 5100) then the up- and download-Speed is only 2-3 MB/s.

When i use it directly with LAN then i got 40-45 MB/s instead of 70+!

 

I installed and activated TurboCopy but TurboPC i can´t installed, because this is not for my OS (Win7 SP1 64Bit). Problem solved!

 

So my first question is why TurboPC can not be installed on Win7? Problem solved!

And second is this the reason for the slow LAN-Speed? -> I will test it!

And at least what is a realistic transfer-rate for my WLAN?

40 MB/s on LAN using SMB is not slow and an expected speed. Your using a wireless G router, hense the cake WLAN speeds.

Why is it that an expected speed? I expect 70 MB/s!

What does the second sentence mean? hense the cake?

The bottelneck on the wireless side is down to a limitation of your wireless network!

The bottleneck is the slow CPU in the linkstation. It is not capable transferring the full speed which the network interface potentially could do.

Actually, on the LAN he is getting 40Mb/s but WLAN 2-3MB/s. So you think the bottleneck is still the Linkstation?

davo, you are right it is the WLAN but i cant understand the big different between LAN and WLAN!

Buffalo said with the higher CPU (1.6 GHz) it could be more than 70 instead of 40 MB/s.

 

I installed TurboPC and TurboCopy but nothing changed.

So i have to live with it and use the USB-Input for bigger transfers/file.

Yes of course I think linkstation is the bottleneck.  LAN connection 40MB/sec is quite slow for a gigabit network interface.   So you can choose for yourself where the bottleneck is - CPU, RAM, hard disks - does not matter, all part of linkstation => linkstation is the bottleneck.

 

Please do not tell that network router, cable or configuration is the bottleneck.  Just try a device from competition in same LAN and you will receive much higher transfer speeds.  they use 2Ghz dual core CPUs (or better), 256-512 MB RAM.  Compare it to RAM and CPU of linkstation and you have found the bottleneck.

you can find the linkstation with about 40mb/sec somewhere at the lower end

Please explain to me how on the LAN connection he is getting 40MB/s and WLAN he is getting 2-3MB/s and this can be a bottleneck because of the Linkstation?! Forget the 70Mb/s theo limit.
