Replace Drive in LinkStation Pro (LS-XHL)

I have a LinkStation Pro (LS-XHL), 1 TB, Fimware 1.57 - it is working fine but I have outgrown it.

Is it possible to swap out the old drive for something bigger? Are there instructions or is it as easy as just swapping drives?

As the LS-XHL used to go up to 4TB, I assume I can at least go tto 4TB? Can I go higher?

Any pointers are greatly appreciated - happy holidays!

only a max of 2TB HDDs have been tested with this Linkstation.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Thanks! You are correct in that 2TB is the max that used to come with it.

Is it as simple as just installing a new 2 TB drive? Anything else need to be done?

I may take a chnace and go for a higher capacity one...

I realise this is a very old post.

I am trying to re-install a disk into a LS-XHL NAS device using FAQ 3 of 5 as advised.

However, there is no TFTP image for a LS-XHL device.

Please advise how I can install the disk.

Thanks
Lennie

Hi. I realise this was a few years ago, did 4TB drive work in the LS-XHL ?
I am thinking of doing the same.
Best wishes.

It Works.  Using a Linux usb stick on a spare pc with the 4TB drive and the old Linkstation drive fitted.
I cloned the partitions using Clonezilla. Expanded the XFS partition using GParted.
Fitted the drive and ran the Buffalo firmware updater.
It works well. So far.
I would like to update the webserver software. Not sure that will be too easy.
