Can I delete a share while RAID is rebuilding

I am currently rebuilding my RAID5 array on my Terastation and it seems to freeze up at around 50-60% complete mark. I am running 4x1.5TB disks which gives about 4.2TB in RAID5 mode. The disks are 98.2% full. I am concerned that the freeze up is due to low disk space or memory limitations when dealing with such a large array. I have a share of about 1TB I can delete, but not sure if I can delete during a re-build in order to reduce the workload and free up some disk space for the rebuild process. Can I do this?

Typically, if the unit is in the process of rebuilding its RAID array, the unit's data cannot be modified until the unit has finished the disk check that is performed as part of a RAID restructure. Until the unit has finished its disk check, it is highly advisable to not attempt to modify the unit in any.
