4TB LS-WXL Duo - How to cancel a Check Disk that's been running for well over a week?

Hi,

I know the anser will be to pull the plug but ... if anyone has any other bright ideas I'd be most interested.

LS-WX4.0TL/R1-EU

Fw v1.63

Mirrored disks (i.e. 2TB array)

Shares are using 294GB of this array.

I found a single directory on one of my shares in which I could not modify or delete some files so I logged in to the admin panel and manually started a check disk against the array. The array has 294GB used (out of 2TB). I've never run a check disk since new as I've never needed to (no issues before, and the data is static). I started the check disk on the evening of Sat 17th November. Since then I've (a) lost access to all my shares - which is expected, (b) lost access to the admin panel - which was not expected, (c) can ping the device OK - which was expected and (d) it's showing IL4 [1 long, 4 short flashes] on Info/Error panel which indicating "The RAID array is being checked" according to the manual.

Quite obviously something is wrong as the forums suggest 6 - 7 hours per TB and I'm way over that.

So I switch the power switch to off on the rear of the unit (on Wed 21st). Since then nothing has changed, it's still reporting IL4.

Is there anything anyone can recommend other than to pull the power?

And once I've pulled that, is there anything else I need to do, i.e. to stop it going back into check disk again?

Fortunately I have a full backup so I'm not going to lose data but it's highly annoying that this has happened and I'd prefer not to damage the unit by doing the wrong thing or end up IPL'ing it and ending up back in another check disk.

If anyone can shed any light on why the unit has done this I'd be interested, especially if there's something I can do to stop it again such as backlevelling the FW (if v1.63 is known to have a problem), or format the drive and copy the data back, or replace the drives or the unit.

Thank you.
