LSQVL Drive not accessible via network share

I have a Buffalo LS-QVL NAS that i'm having some trouble with.

I access the NAS primarily from my Macbook Pro. The NAS is set up with two HDD's, both which are shared via SMB and AFP. Each of those drives has it's own share.

Connecting via the mac I am able to connect to both shares no problem. However finder is very slow, and unresponsive which makes organising files an absolute pain.

Using Windows 7 in a Parallels virtual machine, I can access the drives and they run much smoother and quicker. However, for whatever reason one of the shares will simply not connect.  No matter which user account I connect with, access is denied.

It doesn't do it with the second share. I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work, but i'm at my wits end.

Any ideas why I cannot access this share on my virtual machine? I am able to access it through MacOSX, web access, DNLA etc.
