LS-WVL (FW 1.40) Flashing Error 23, but emails don't indicate disk problem

My LinkStation Pro Duo LS-WVL is flashing the error code 23 as though there is a bad drive in the RAID array, but the NAS is indicating no errors in the daily status email.  Why would the email not indicate this error?  Seems pretty important if an entire drive fails and it doesn't notify me since the drive is located somewhere where it is not regualarly visible.

Also, how can I find out exactly what the issue with the drive is?  Is there any way to view SMART status?  I need to request an RMA from the manufacturer of the drive, but I need to know what the issue is to get it replaced.

Thank you.

update the firmware to the latest version and reset the unit to factory defaults, once done see if you get an E30 error message and check the mail notification again.
