Is it possible for me to set one of these up on my linkstation LS-CHL and use it as a web server?

I've tried using IIS and have set up the virtual directory, but when I try to launch the url http://localhost/photos" target="_blank">http://localhost/photos, I keep getting the error 'You are not authorised to view this page'. I know my log in settings are correct so it's not that.

Any help wold be appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds like a permissions mismatch between the web server and the virtual directory. I'm not sure how to fix that.

The Web Access feature may give you what you're looking for. It uses a simple HTTP-based file server.

The web access is good, but I want to host my own website and want to use my linkstation for it. Is it possible to set up a web server on my linkstation?

Not with the firmware that Buffalo provides, as the device is meant to be used as a NAS, not a web server.

Are there any plans to add web server functionality to a future firmware update?

It's very doubtful, since as I noted, the NAS devices were never intended to be used as web servers. I will forward your request to our corporate office.
