Cannot Always Access LinkStation Live via LinkStation Name

I have my recently purchase LinkStation Live LS-XL connected to a large in-house corporate network and have noticed that some computers can access it via the LinkStation Name and others cannot.

The ones that cannot, can access it via the IP Address though.  We would really like everyone to be able to access it via the LinkStation Name because I named it something easier to remember than the IP Address.

I am unable to install the NAS Software on every computer because we have literally thousands of computers and also we are not allowed to have certain software installed on everyone's system and so we really need to be able to use the LinkStation Name.

I think the problem has to do with people that happen to be on a different gateway than the LinkStation Live.

Is there a fix coming for this?

I also had a WD MyBook that had the same exact problem.

I contacted WD Support and they explained that the MyBook was not designed for large networks and the solution would be for me to upgrade to one of their corporate products.

I really wish the LinkStation Live does not have to have that same type of fix, i.e. upgrading to a much more expensive device.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If you can access it via IP but not name the your DNS server/s are the issue. If would be nothing to do with the linkstation.
This would also explain the issue with the WD mybook.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebsireland.com and we will get it fixed!

Have i helped you? Buy me a coffee as a thanks!

And I can fix this how?

Maybe the LinkStation needs to have provisions for this then.

Has anyone else not had this problem?  Anyone?

LinkStation Support, are you guys listening?  Any plans to fix this?

I had to have our IT Department add a DNS entry to the Active Directory and that fixed it.
