My LinkStation got bumped when it was powered up and ended up stuck in EM mode. I managed to get it out of EM mode but when I try to access the admin interface it just shows the loading gif. I has a look at the source code for the page and the body just contains this:
<body>
<div align="center"> <div id="login_container"> <div id="login_header"> <div id="dev_logo"></div>
<div id="buff_logo"><span>Buffalo</span></div> </div>
<div id="login_container_inner"> <div id="help"></div> <div id="login_container_form"> <img id="login_loading" src="_img/loading_64.gif" width="64" height="64"> </div> </div> <div id='login_footer'> Copyright 2002-2011, BUFFALO INC. All rights reserved. </div> </div> </div></body>
I get the same using Firefox, Chrome and IE9.
It shows up in NASNavigator with the following details:
Hostname: LS-WXLEC2
Workgroup: UNKNOWN
IP Address: 192.168.11.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.11.1
MAC Address: 00:24:A5:93:4E:C2
Firmware: 1.56
Before the problem, it was set up as RAID 1 and now it's showing up as RAID 0 and the drives are empty (not a problem as I have the data elsewhere).
It shows up in the Network section of Windows Explorer under both Computers and Media Devices. If I navigate to it through Windows Explorer I can see the shares that I set up previously but I can't access them and Windows reports "The network path was not found".
All I'm looking to do now is get into the admin interface so that I can delete any settings that are left over from before it entered EM mode and start again from fresh. If anyone's got any pointers for getting the admin interface back, I'd be very grateful.
Try the Force Firmware procedure described here, http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-2-of-5-Force-Firmware-update-procedure/td-p/100317
Thanks for the reply.
Those instructions are one of the things I did to try and get it out of EM mode, but looking at it again, I notice that the latest firmware version from the downloads sections is later than the version that NASNavigator is reporting.
I'll give it another go and report back.
I followed the instructions and got to step 9:
9. Make sure the options in your window are checked exactly as shown above
The program reports the IP address as 169.254.197.73 and the same IP shows up in the debug window. I get an error message saying "No response from LS-WXLEC2. Please check your network setting..."
I used NASNavigator and went throught Properties>IP Settings tab to set the IP to 192.168.11.2 and then ran LSUpdater again. I got the "Transferring firmware" pop-up again and let it run. I got access to the admin interface and deleted the shares that I set up previously.
I connectd the NAS box to the router and tried to access it from my desktop and everything seems to be working the way it should. NASNavigator now reports the firmware as 1.62.
Thanks for the help and I'm going to put the box somewhere where it won't get any knocks in the future.
