security pop-up warning on workstations...
« on: May 25, 2011, 02:20:34 PM »

my users are getting a wierd security warning when opening outlook(not a wierd warning, but wierd that Outlook would have issues with it)...it's related to the NAS device because when i click on the certificate details, i see the issuer is Buffalo Inc...

I originally thought it was the file security software, so i uninstalled it, but that's obviously not it.  can someone point me in the right direction? it's more of a nuisance than an problem, as they can click yes or no and get into outlook...but i'd like to resolve this (whether there's a specific store to install the certificate to, etc.)

Can you take a screen shot of the warning and post it along with your firmware version?

firmware is 1.41

i am really not sure i see a clear way to add an attachment..trying to upload the image here...hope that works..

on the "view certificate" option, general tab, it says it's from "develop" so this is how i thought it was related to this device.

both users only get the alert when they open outlook.

I have never heard of this before. I checked with my supervisor and he didnt know either. It would be best to contact Microsoft or even use a different mail cleint like Windows live mail.

Its your certificate! This is at an office. Its not a home environment I have an Exchange server. Not going to switch email clients. . I didn't have this problem until I installed the software on the server so I could access the nas device

Are you talking about the Nas Navigator? If it is causing a conflict on your server have you tried uninstalling it? The only reason you need to use that software is to find the units IP address.

I haven't uninstalled it from the server yet. I can try that. What else might be causing this SSL conflict?

No, it has to be software. The unit self could not do something like that.

very strange...i wonder why that started happening..

anyway, the post said i was going to update you when i removed the software...

i did...and it removed the security alert, but now the device can't be accessed at all....

i can ping the device, but no http access...no mapped drive access...and when i try to go to start \\x.x.x.x (ip address of the device), i get "x.x.x.x is not set up to establish a connection on port "file and printer sharing (SMB)" with this computer"

i have tried running the detection tool off the installation CD(in the EN folder, tool,nasnavi2)...and it can't find the device either....
