First post so go gentle with meh...

Running a LS CHL500 plugged into Virgin Superhub then onto a HP Laptop running Vista. LSCHL software was upgraded and running 1.24 and is the version 2 as far as Im aware.

Installed my NAS and managed to get the BT working and ironed out a few other issues I had but one thing I cant get to work is webaccess.

The iphone app just times out and on a PC it says it doesn't get past the buffaloNAS log in screen.

So really my query is what are the first things to check at this stage, I can log in when on the LAN but not remotely.

Is there a list of things to check in this instance?

You need to open whatever port your using for web access on your router. Forward it to the IP address of the Linkstation and you should be good to go.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Thanks for the reply, bit green on stuff like this

I have changed some port forwarding settings, for example

My NAS IP address is forwarded to port 9000 on my router as per software instructions, but havent tinkered with any other port settings.

How do I find out what port Im using for web access?

Isnt it normally 21 or 80 ?

Did the http://canyouseeme.org/" target="_blank">canyouseeme  thing on port 80 and it timed out so forwarded HTTP on port 80 to my NAS's IP address and http://canyouseeme.org/" target="_blank">canyouseeme says that it is no longer blocked and finds it.

Problem being now is my iphone app doesnt want to connect over a 3g connection and connecting via the wireless network in my house kind of defeats the object!

your not using port 80 for web access, log onto the web admin page of the linkstation -> web access and see what external port you have selected for the service. Its usually port 9000.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
