Pulling my hair out - cannot access shares on TS-XL713

Hello all,

We've been having a terrible time trying to connect to our TS-XL713 8TB NAS.

Running a Windows XP environment with one Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller. The NAS is connected through ethernet to a Cisco switch and configured with a static IP address. I can ping the NAS and I can also access the NAS through the web interface. The NASNavigator 2 tool finds the NAS, reads the amount of data on it, detects it's IP address and I'm able to send "I'm here" packets to the device. But when I attempt to browse to the shares I recieve the following error message "Could not open the shared folder. Confirm drive status." When I try to map to the device I get an error that says the "network path cannot be found" I also get a similar error when I attempt to join the device to the Active Directory - it says it cannot join. But it does create an account on the domain controller.

  • Running firmware version 1.54.
  • TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper is started and set to automatic
  • The NAS device has already been restarted several times and restored to factory configuration
  • There is an account for the device on the Domain Controller under computers - and it is a member of the Administrators group
  • I've been through three rounds of phone support already - they've thrown in the towel essentially
  • No error lights

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

I'm on tech support again - ensured that my time is correct and within 5 mins of the server. Also took out the special character from the domain administrators password.

We are still unable to connect via active directory.

We're trying to make it a workgroup and map into it, but so far that isn't working either. Using the settings

Delegate authority to External SMB server

USe windows domain controller as Authentication Server

Automatic User Registration

Enable Authenication Shared Folder

Have now just updated to Firmware 1.55 and still unable to connect to the device. Can anyone help on this, I've called tech support about six times now - completely reformated the device, and right now I'm just trying to connect it to a standalone laptop.

Did you ever try the NTLM change? Which support line did you call?

Thanks for the response - but we did try the NTLM fix and are still having the same connectivity issues - believe it might be a SAMBA problem.

We've called the main tech support line - 866-752-6210. Tried again today, but I think they've given up.

Thanks again for help - we could really use some more!!
