I will also add my name to the growing number of dissatisfied and disappointed customers that cannot use time machine backups on my LS after upgrading to Lion!

More Mac users here not happy.

Although SMB does work and there is apparently a workaround that someone mentioned earlier in message 48 of this thread.

I've tried this workaround without success. Buffalo, we need this fixed ASAP...

If you have a TeraStation I added a new topic as this model is older, but want to be sure it gets equal visability with Buffalo:  http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/TeraStation-HD-H1-0TGL-R5-unable-to-be-accessed-by-MAC-OS-X-Lion/td-p/73426?

I can't get the workaround to work.  Does anyone know how to verify the change is being made to the library file?  Any way to see where the authentication is breaking??

Another Lion user who cannot use Time Machine, iTunes  (I have my iTunes library on my LinkStation Pro) or Apple TV (streaming from iTunes).

I just happily switched to Lion without thinking there might be with my LS Live 1To, because it worked well with Snow Leopard ! In fact I had quite some issues configuring the Time Machine part on Mac OS X 10.6, and I was worried to do again the all mess...

But now, I see that I am not alone in this case, and I am confident that Buffalo will offer a solution ASAP, and will provide us with a new firmware to take into account some new protocols, and solve this simply for everyone.

I'll stay updated to this thread !

Another dissatisfied customer.  I upgraded without being aware that there might be issues with my time machine.  Now I am flying without a net until Buffalo gets a fix in.

Pretty disappointing...

I am still just utterly shocked that for the months that Lion was out in beta, that they never bothered to come up with a fix in that time. I am dismayed and disgusted that they would let this happen to something so important.

...And another dissatisfied customer who's praying to God that his Mac hard drive doesn't pack in while the Buffalo engineers sit on their chairs with their finger up their noses  :smileymad:

Buffalo has been aware of this problem since at least March (when this thread was opened) and they have done nothing about it. The problem is that  Apple disabled support for DHCAST 128 in OSX Lion and all Buffalo NAS drives need Netatalk 2.2 installed and updated to work with Time Machine. (Or Netatalk 2.1.5 source can be compiled with uams_dhx2 support.)?

They have acknowledged the problem on their Asian support forums:

http://www.buffalo-asia.com/support/macosxlion/index.html#networkhdd?

But I was told by a Buffalo tech that the Asian support forums do not apply to products in the United States.

If you are a dissatisfied customer, I suggest that you contact the Better Business Bureau and notify them of false advertisement, as Buffalo clearly does not support OSX 10.3.9 and later as it claims to in its advertising. Additionally, you can rate Buffalo NAS drives as 1 star on Amazon, Newegg and Tiger Direct--citing lack of support as your reason.

If Buffalo does not want to support its customers, then we should not support them as a company.
