HD-h120LAN format
« on: May 08, 2010, 06:05:54 PM »

I have an HD-H120LAN linkstation.  The drive has failed.  I haven't been able to find a utility for formatting a new drive ( probably a 200 - 300 Gig unit).  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Depends on what format. If you're only using Windows, XP and up have a formatter that will work fine.

-Right-Click on "My Computer"

-Choose "Manage". This will open a Computer Management screen

-Click on "Disk Management"

-Look for a "Disk1" or Disk2" etc. that approximately matches the Buffalo's capacity.

From here you can choose how to format.

Thanks for the reply.  The new drive is in the linkstation.  It's only connection at this time is via ethernet.  I don't think the computer's management console can see anything on the network.  Does this mean that I will have to hook up the USB port on the linkstation?  That's no problem, but I just wanted to clear it up.

Thanks again,
