I can web into the NAS with the ip address and log into the Browser screen.

The NAS Navigator2 App can access the NAS and lets me add folders and delete folders.

When I access the "menu" and tell it to map network drive it comes back and says "Could not map the share, Create a folder named "share" before mapping the drive."

I have added thru the web access to the NAS the "share" folder and given it all the permissions for read and write.  Still no luck.

I can also pull up a command prompt and Ping the device with IP and get replies back.

none of my computers can see this NAS on the network though.

What am I doing wrong?  I have done all the updates to the NAS and checked all network sharing options on all the Computers and none of them can see the device in the network settings to be able to map it so I can start a backup.

Anyone have any ideas?

  • RAID is NOT a substitute for a good backup
My guess is that a recent update disabled SMB version 1 on your computer.
