Hi

Is it possible to only reset the admin password (and IP settings) - but not wipe the stored data on a Buffalo unit? I have the LS-QVL 8TB Buffalo NAS drive.

Its been offline for a few years now, and I have forgotten the password to access it.

When I plugged it in, it asks me to set the time and date. I can see that it has the default IP, mask, and subnet, workgroup, and FW(1.56), so it seems to work. But cant connect. It also asks me to correct the IP adress automatically. In Nas Navigator, its listed with a yellow triangle with a "!".

(I found this article: http://en.faq.buffalo-global.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14913 - but it says nothing about the stored data...) :/
-Are the files lost?

IF - by any chance It's possible. Please share
