TS5400RN NAS RAM Upgrade
« on: October 29, 2019, 11:47:17 AM »
I just upgraded the DDR3 RAM in my TS5400RN NAS from 2GB to 4GB. It is up and running fine, but there is no way that I see to tell if it is reading all 4GB. Any suggestions? Has anyone else done this successfully?

I did it with my TS5800D and it's been working great. If you connect a monitor to the VGA port you should be able to see it recognized in the bios at startup. Depending on what OS you're running you should be able to see it with either:

Linux: free -h (it might also be in the web interface somewhere if using buffalo firmware)
Windows: dxdiag

I've put together some notes about the hardware of this generation of devices as well as information for running a modern version of Linux on them, see the links below.
