LS HD-HG300LAN bad flash
« on: October 01, 2009, 02:28:14 PM »

Hi,

I recently tried to update my firmware using the updater tool.

The flash got to 99% then said flash failed.

I now have a red LED which flashes 6 times, suggesting a HDD or uart error.

The device is unobtainable via ethernet, I have tried putting my PC on a 192.168.11.xxx IP range and tried all the tools to no avail.

Also I have booted the unit in EM mode and scanned the IP range, again no joy.

I have removed the hard drive and put it in a linux box and recvered the data, so I know the drive itself is ok, I also tried removing all the partitions on the drive and putting it back in the linkstation to try and force EM mode which also didnt work.

I have also tried tftp with my firewall disabled.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks :)

When you tried the TFTP did it pull files?  Also make sure that it says "listening on: 192.168.11.1"

Hi there,

No, I get no response at all.

its not even picking up on the ip scanner, im using 192.168.11.1 for my router, and a subnet of 255.255.255.0

Thanks :)

so you dont have the unit plugged in directly to your NIC?  The IP for you router shouldn't matter as it isn't being used.  You have to directly connect and set 192.168.11.1 for the TFTP.  The instructions clearly state as much.

Yeah I have tried a crossover cable too.

on further study I dont think the HD-HG300LAN has the tftp facility?
