Hi,

I have been trying to leave my recently bought Linkstation Quad over night. I turn on the Linkstation Quad in manual mode ( the LED light is blue not flashing) during the day and it works perfectly. Then I leave it on over night with no computers turned on ( all computers are macs). The next morning the LED light is still blue and the hard drive still appears in the NASNavigator application but I cannot connect to it. The firmware is up to date, I tried multiple times in auto and manual mode but it kept failing to connect. The Linkstation is connected over NAS.

Log into the web interface> Maintenance> Power Options> Make sure NO days are selected and all times set to 0.

also try...

Log into the web interface> Maintenance> Initialization> Restore to Defaults

i just checked and i have no time sets or days selected. all times sets are on 0, any other ideas or is the last possible one to restore everything to default?

Try http://www.buffalotech.com/knowledgebase/users/kb.php?id=10142&category_id=0&sid2=" target=_blank>Force Updating the Firmware!

You do NOT want to use Auto, as that will allow it to go to sleep.

If the force update does not help, then you will need to try restoring to defaults.

How will this help me because it looks quiet risky since I'm running mac os x leopard.

kevin

You will want to do this with a Windows computer so that you get the latest Firmware.

i have already downloaded the firmware update and installed it. Isn't that enough or is their a "hidden" firmware update??

You have done the FORCE Update and Restore to Defaults, and your still getting these issues?

bouklyloo

No, I have not done the force update but I have done the "normal" update, How will the force update help me?

kevin

Well, if there is a corruption in the FW (most likely when the FW was transferred to the unit), a new flash of the FW should fix that.  Because you already have the latest version, you need to perform a force update or the updater will not find it or update correctly. After flashing the FW, you do want to Restore to Defaults again!
