HD-PNTU3 will not work with Windows 10?

I have an HD-PNTU3 1Terabyte external USB drive.
It worked fine for years with Win 7.
Tried connecting to Win 10.
It connects, accepts the password, and even transfers gigabytes of files for awhile.
Then it goes offline.
Should I give up trying to use it?

That sounds more like a HDD failure instead of an issue with the operating system, how many PCs does this currently occur from?
