Alright, just for confirmation's sake please download your firmware http://www.buffalotech.com/support/getfile/?HS-DHGL_211_101b.zip" target=_blank>here and run it. If you can ping the device from your computer you should be able to update the firmware. Also, any firewalls must be disabled before updating your firmware.

Hi any help here ive done all the upgrading firmware etc drive seems to work fine from the pc, but when i go into the other room and run my philips media player it sees the Linkstation and allows me to click on it but as soon as i get to folders it tells me there empty yet i have around 400gb of files on them.

Any ideas?

@Captuk: Are your files compatible with the player? If you're not sure you should check with Philips, mainly because the NAS is being seen on the network and you know the files are there but the player may not show files that are incompatible.

Hi there yes ive had them running on this player for the last 6 months no problem.

I have even tried disabling the firewall and defender using netsh commands but still with DHCP or Static IP shows the same problem that it cant communicate(disable the firewal) even rebooted the PC. NO CHANGES . This is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. I really REGRET my decision of going for Buffalo.  I spend almost 24 complete hours trying to solve the problem and STILL NO RESULT.

Hi My PC Cast Settings are

Media Servers : Enable

Media Folder : Share

                    USB Disk is Enabled

PCast Password : Disabled

Enter Password:

Confirm Password:

Limit DLNA Client Access: Disable

Update Media List: Automatic Update

I disabled password on this and now my media player picks up most of the files now , but what i notice is after a few mins of scrolling through the list of files i end up losing the Linkstation on the media player and then have restart the link station.

hardik

Can somebody let me know the data recovery center's contact/website for Buffalo and RMA details ?

Very strange i switch the Linkstation live on , i then switch my philips media player or PS3 it locates the Linkstation i then go and choose a file then after a few mins the Linkstation disappears, i can still access it from the PC but not from any of the media player or PS3 any ideas?

I have managed to get my Unit working again I went back to Firmware 1.06 now everything is running smoothly.

ealgra

I have exactly the same issue with my LinkStation live 320GB.

Worked fine for the past 1.5 years, both from Vista and from WinXP.

All of a sudden, I can no longer connect to the thing.

Ping is OK to the box. However, cannot http to the config service, nor ftp to the data.

The NAS Navigator finds the device on the network, but is unable to show firmware version.

I re-installed the firmware as noted elsewhere in this thread.

This solved the problems: the box is fully operational without data loss.

Apparently the firmware got into an incorrect state, and reinstalling resets that to a known state?

Close but not exactly ealgra. Chances are you had corrupt firmware. Reflashing it restored it to an operational state.
