WHR-HP-G54 set up as access point
« on: August 10, 2011, 12:25:48 PM »

I'm trying to extend the signal of my friend's network using my Buffalo router, as an access point, with no success. The modem is Motorola (Cablevision) which is wired to a wireless Cisco Valet router.  Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The WDS system on the default Firmware will only work with another Buffalo router and will only work with WEP encryption or no enryption at all.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

Thanks for your reply. I don't care too much about encryption though.

Also, another alternative is using dd-wrt. Which then it doesn't matter what chipsets or security is used, with dd-wrt you could straight setup the buffalo unit as a 'repeater' (yes with dd-wrt, you have repeater modes which the friendly firmware doesn't have). Just some food for thought.
