LinkStation Pro Duo documentation is lacking

If you intend to use the LinkStation Pro Duo in the simplest out of the box configuration in a home LAN as a file server alternative, it's a snap to set up.  If you want to use any of the higher order features, such as FTP or remote Web access, particularly if you have to go through a firewall, expect to spend hours and hours hacking and beating to divine how it works by trial and error.   The PDF manual on the included CD is maddeningly incomplete, albeit adequate for trivial implementations.  The Knowledgebase online is also spotty at best, and this forum contains more questions than answers.

It's a frustrating product.  It seems to be engineered pretty well, but it just isn't documented well enough to make full use of its potential.  Hopefully we can fill in the gaps with this forum.
