WZR-HP-G300NH NAS setup with Dynamic Ip address?
« on: June 14, 2010, 09:41:37 PM »

HI,

I've been trying to figure out if I can access remotely to my drive that I have connect  to the usb port,  with a Dynamic IP. I have a  pppoe DSL connection. I just wanted to know how do I go about this?. I have a domain setup at  DYNDNS.com and have put that information in the web access and internet/lan sections. It sort of works I guess; when I go to the domain URL I get a hit but it is simply accessing the Router itself not the drive that is connected. I'm kinda new to this NAS thing so I don't really know what to do next to get it to work? I can't really afford a static IP so hopefully I don't have to go that route.

Any help with this would be great. Thanks for your time.

Khel.

Edit: Does anyone have this problem? is it doable?

sorry, what I have.

WZR-HP-G300NH     Ver.1.74 (R2.06/B1.03)

running under Windows 7 64bit

my isp I teksavvy DSL with a dynamic IP.

Try setting up Web Access in the router config pages.  You can find Web Access under the NAS tab in the config pages.

This should allow you to access the NAS functions of your router from the internet.
