Linkstation EZ 320GB: Incorrect Password and more...

Just want to make sure I follow the guidelines:

1) Model number of your product: Linkstation EZ (320GB) LS-LGL53B

2) Firmware revision: 2.01

3) Computer: Primary is an HP Pavilion (though I have 3 other computers on the network).  Network: Router is DLink DI-624

4) Details of issue:

Let me say first that the unit is showing up in the network properly.  I have upgraded the firmware to 2.01 successfully.

The share is available, files are accessible and I have it on a static IP address with the router.

Here are the description of problems I'm having:

-  The NAS Navigator won't accept the default password of "password".  I keep getting "Incorrect Password" when I try to Adjust Time or do a Disk Check.  I have tried a reset of the unit (press and hold of the reset button in the back of the unit -- confirmed the reset happened because the lights on the front blinked).

- One oddity: When accessing the unit through a browser (i.e. typing the IP on IE), it asks for a password.  It does not accept "password", but allows me to enter if I use an empty password.

- After reading some of the posts in the forums, I have an impression that the web interface should have more features than what I am seeing in my case.  For my Linkstation EZ, I do not have menu options on the left side.  Just ONE page titled "Web Access/Web Access Services.   Can somebody pls. confirm if this is accurate?

Appreciate your help in advance!

Hi, I'm having the same issue with the apparent missing items on the web interface.
I've also upgraded to firmware 2.01 but didn't try it with the old firmware as I didn't even know that there was a web interface at that time.
Did you happen to try it before you upgraded the firmware?
Regarding your password problem, I just enter an empty password on NAS Navigator for the options you're trying to access and it works ok, same as you do for the web interface. I haven't seen anywhere that states that there is a default password set "password".
At the moment I'm waiting for a second reply to my query at http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&thread.id=5409">http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&thread.id=5409 to hopefully find out where the missing items are. Maybe one of the posts you mentioned reading was mine.
Hopefully, we can get some answers to solve our issues.

(Sorry about the lack of line spacing, for some reason all my blank lines are removed when I submit the Post)

1. Tried the blank password and still did not work.  Still got "Incorrect Password".

2. There is another related post with regards to the web interface:

It is a firmware issue which they are working to resolve.

Just got my linstation the other also battled with the default password problem.  After trying lots of things i put in the administrator password for my computer and it worked i was able to change the password to something else then and use all the features that required the password.  If your administrator password doesnt work try it with the password of the account you used to install the software.

hope this helps

fix

If the admin password, 'password',  does not work when installing using NasNavi.exe, try using NasNavi2.exe ... it accepted the password and allowed me to proceed with the install.

Also, when installing and attempting to access the 'share', the 'Server' service must be running on your pc.  I stopped and disabled that service months ago at a time when I did not need to set up shares.
