Can I leave my Ministation plugged in at all times?

Hi all, I have just bought a Ministation 1TB USB 3.0 portable hard drive that I use with my Apple Time Capsule. It's great.

But, is it safe to leave it plugged into the TC at all times? Am I speeding up the wearing out or degradation of the drive? Most computer people I speak to say that even now, with the latest hard drives, you should not keep them plugged in at all times as they wear out quicker and you increase the risk of failure.

Is this true? I'd appreciate any opinions on this from anyone with experience of these things, or specialist knowledge of hard drives, etc.

Much appreciated,

David
